Geneius’ innovative approaches to food and drink testing that have been influential in the evolution of the company into the UK’s leading independent services provider have been recognized by a 2014 Northumberland Business Award. The award was announced and presented to Jerry Barnes, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Geneius, at the Annual Awards Dinner – held at Linden Hall Hotel, Northumberland, and attended by c. 300 industry representatives.
The award specifically recognises Geneius’ all-new DNA-based Meat Speciation platform that has been developed in house by then company’s R&D team. The product has been completely reworked following recognition of the inadequacy of proprietary methods used by other testing laboratories. The service gained UKAS accreditation and was launched commercially earlier this year. The service is proving popular and has already been adopted by retailers and major brands.
The development constitutes the company’s first foray into food authentication testing, and there are plans to extend this portfolio moving forward.
